Because of this, Xishi became "The Legendary Beauty that made the Fish sink".

During the Western Han Dynasty, the empire sent a great beauty, Wang Zhaojun, to marry the Emir of a northern tribe. On their way to the north, some wild geese were flying overhead and saw Zhaojun. They were so startled by her beauty that they forgot to flap their wings. Tragically they all fell out of the sky. After this incident, people came to call Zhaojun "The beauty who caused the wild geese to fall out of the sky".

The story of a beauty who outshines the moon:

During the East Han Dynasty, Wang Yun, a favorite subordinate of the emperor Xian, had a female singer called Diaochan. One full-moon night in the garden, Diaochan tried to pay homage to the moon, but the moon hid quietly behind the clouds. So Wang Yun said," the moon refuses to come out because Diaochan is more beautiful than the moon!" After that, "The one who outshined the moon" became Diaochan's nickname.
